A simple topknot is so 2012. This summer, women are updating the simple updo with a party-in-the-back vibe. Creating an upside-down French braid under your topknot adds an almost hidden surprise. Plus, the polished topknot can be created in under five minutes.
Upside down French braid is a cool summer hairstyle. It’s a fresh twist on a refular French braid and it makes you feel literally cool as all hair goes up. Celebrities have worn it way back in winter but we figure summer is the best time to rock it. We love braid trends!
So the twist here is that you start braiding hair from the neck up just like you would a regular French braid. Then at the crown you may fix the upside down French braid in a ponytail or finish it if you want to create a braided bun.
You can leave a couple of strands at the fron section of the hair to frame your face. Add volume to the hair teasing it a bit and fixing with lightweight hairspray to smooth it down a little bit. You can add a headband to the finished look as Whippy Cake did or go for a more casual tousled look as in tutorial by CERINEBABYYISH. In the tutorial by Luxy Hair chignon is used to create a bun.
