Winter Beauty Tips

As winter arrives, our skin tends to be flaky and itchy. But, most of us do not make any change in our skin-care routine and continue with those products that we have been using on our skin.In reality, our skin needs special care during those harsh winter months in order to protect itself from freezing temperature and the resultant dryness. With a little care, you can easily maintainglowing skin even during winter. The very basic winter tip is to add a quality lip balm to your beauty kit. Make sure that it get carried along with you and gets applied frequently.
Winter weather is extremely harmful to the skin. Severe wind is sure to absorb all the moisture present in the air and though it is a cold day, the sun might be shining in full intensity. Of course, we can save our skin by using an effective sunscreen. While selecting your winter sun block cream, go for one with a sun protection factor (SPF) of minimum fifteen. Sunscreens that contain aloevera, coconut butter and herbal oils are found to be better.
Keep your body highly moisturised. It is also wise to stick to thicker emollients during winter. Use moisturisers more often. Formulations that contain alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic or lactic acid are ideal for the dry winter months.
During winter, it is normal for people to be over-dressed. As we spend most of our time in temperature-regulated rooms, this actually results in the increased loss of moisture through sweat.
Most of the winter-wear stuff such as wool and nylon prevents the skin from ‘breathing’. The resultant dampness is likely to breed many bacterial infections. It is always advisable to choose cotton clothes during winter as well. If you find it hard to get cotton dresses dried once they get wet during winter, try synthetic stuffs such as polyester or polypropylene.
